I buy many verities of pepper seeds an every year i buy more!! : ) So in 2015 i purchased the AJI PENEC pepper seeds from pepperlovers.com and received the seeds within a week, i am very happy : )! Most of the pepper plants were growing according to their phenotype except for about a dozen or so. No big deal, you win some an you lose some, thats life. so out of the seed pack of the AJI PENEC, 5 plants grew an every single plant was a different phenotype! I was confused at first because i thought they were stabilized but apparently they began to split as far as i can tell. It is possible they were crossed again with other species an its not splitting or even a combo of both, I'm not sure at this point but i can say they are all different phenotype's for sure. This article is focusing on the Yellow Aji Penec type. It has 2 shapes so far, the flat fish shape an the 3 lobe type. None of them so far exhibit the notable "fish lips" characteristics witch the Aji penec is noted for. These penec peppers have a point on the bottom instead of the "fish lips". In 2017 i will be growing these out an will attempt to stabilize them in the next several years. Once stable (F4, F5, F6,) i will offer seeds to the public!! But for now comes the long hard journey in this process. I will UPDATE this blog every year till there stable an ready for sale.
